How to attach your BDO ATM (Debit) Card with your Paypal Account?

1 February 2010 90 Comments

Disclaimer: This tutorial was tested under BDO (Banco De Oro) ATM (Debit) card with Online Banking feature. If your card is under a different Bank, please inquire about their Online Banking feature.

With your Paypal verified, you can withdraw unlimited amounts to your account. Please follow these steps and enjoy the perks of being verified.

I assume you have already registered an account with Paypal. So let’s get your ATM (Debit) card connected!

  1. Connect your debit or credit card to the system. Paypal will ask you different questions about your card including the number and billing address. They will also ask you for the expiration date and security code. Paypal will send a 4-digit pin code. This usually goes through right away, sometimes it can take up to two days though.
  2. Paypal needs to confirm your verification using a 4-digit pin code sent to your Bank Statement. Since ATM (debit) card from BDO (Banco de Oro) doesn’t send one to your mailing address, you need to request for it. They usually charge 10 pesos per page. But IF you have your Online Banking feature enabled, it’s easy! Proceed to the next instruction.
  3. Open a new window tab, and go to https://www.mybdo.com.ph/ and login to your account. Click “My Portfolio” and scroll to “My Transactions“. Configure “Transaction Date” under Preset Date with Last 7 Days and click Submit. Result will look something like this: POS W/D SV PP (1234 E xxxxxxxxxx MC SGP xxxxxxxxxxxx
  4. Use 1234 as the pin code beside PP.
  5. Go back to your Paypal account and click confirm debit card. Input your 4-digit pin code you retrieve from previous step. Click submit.

Free Yourself From Sending Limits—Get Verified Today
Whether you’re buying or selling, you want instant, unlimited access to your funds. Get Verified and eliminate send limits. Improve your PayPal reputation, too. Once you’re Verified, you can:

* Send and receive money as much and as often as you like

Getting Verified Means More Security for You
When you’re sending and receiving money, “Verified” status is your stamp of approval. It lets other members know you’re a confirmed PayPal member with a current, active bank account. Boost your credibility and the overall security of the PayPal network.

Hi there, thank you for sharing this. I had troubles confirming my BDO Debit Card in paypal because the statement printout does not reflect the 4-digit paypal code. Now all I gotta do is enroll in BDO’s online banking so that I can finally confirm my card and then transfer my funds to my bank account.

  • lutz (author) said:

@guiltygearz if you’re using credit card (NOT debit) they usually mail that to your address. if you used debit card (or atm card) to verify your paypal then you can ask at your bank for a bank statement for P10 (depends on your branch) OR much better, apply for a FREE online banking feature of your debit (or atm) card and retrieve your pin code there under “view transaction history”.

    # Open a new window tab, and go to https://www.mybdo.com.ph/ and login to your account.

    # Use 1234 as the pin code beside PP.

hey. just asking, what if you don’t have the online banking feature of BDO? how can i obtain the paypal pin code? thanks. :)

  • marilyn said:

Thanks! this info helps me! i am now verified with pay pal.

  • lutz (author) said:

Hi Jericho, If you don’t have online banking feature you still need to get your statement of account from your bank. There will be a pin code if you refer to my instructions just the same as the online banking feature. Hope this helps. :)

Hi, I have already applied for online banking in BDO. I had been approve. How can I get the pin from paypal. What is the step to make the paypal send me the pin code?

  • lutz (author) said:

    Hi Mel,

Please follow the step-by-step instruction on my post. Check step 3 if you already have your card attached to your Paypal.

  • Mel said:

Hi lutz, I already made it but i can’t see the transaction from paypal. Do I need to make a request at my paypal accont to have my transaction in BDO online banking? What can i do to make the paypal send a transaction to BDO to have my pin code? TNX.

  • lutz (author) said:

Hi Mel, It is there. Check your transaction history in your BDO online account. You will see there some random generated numbers that might look like this:

Click “My Portfolio” and scroll to “My Transactions”. Configure “Transaction Date” under Preset Date with Last 7 Days and click Submit. Result will look something like this: POS W/D SV PP (1234 E xxxxxxxxxx MC SGP xxxxxxxxxxxx

1234 <— That should be your Pin from Paypal

For some other reasons, it might look different on your side but format or similar to this should look like that. Can you do a screenshot from your system?

I have my BDO ATM (Debit Card) already linked and verified with PayPal. I was able to make a purchase a few days ago, but today it was stopped dead by PayPal. When I called BDO Customer Service, they said that the card can’t be used for PayPal or any online transactions anymore, that only their CC will work. I really got pissed off because there were no notifications of any sort. Do any of you guys still have your DCs working with PayPal? Anyone else encountered this? Any possible workaround? There’s this purchase I need to complete but it’s hanging now because of this :(

  • Christian said:

@stacy, I have the same problem. But I found a better solution like applying for Union Bank EON Card. EON Card is designed for online transactions especially in Paypal. And aside from that, I found that you can check your transactions by just logging in website, unlike BDO Debit Cards, you can’t see those transactions.

  • HackrDaD said:

    @ STACY

We are on the same boat. I am also using my BDO ATM Debit card to fund my paypal account. But this month, it suddenly stop working. I can’t do any online purchases anymore. I hope BDO brings back this feature. If not, I have to revert on using my Unionbank EON account.

  • chelsea said:

i tried adding my debit card just now, i provided all the info they asked and this is what Paypal said when i clicked ADD CARD:

“We were unable to verify this credit card. Please check if the information you entered is correct. If the problem persists, please try to enter a different credit card.”

i have triple checked and everything’s correct.
    anyone knows why this is?

  • lutz (author) said:

Yes you can if you have your bdo debit card online feature activated.

  • Stacy said:

I used to have only my EON with PayPal, but when I found out that I could also use my BDO DC, I stuck with that. Also, so that I wouldn’t have to renew my EON when it expired. But yeah I guess I’m going back to EON, like I have a choice. Applied for a renewal last week. They said I’d get my new EON card within 1-2 weeks.

  • Christian said:

Hello there again? May I know if Paypal+BDO Debit card will work if I enroll for electronic banking feature? Thanks!

In relation to this, please be advised that you cannot use your BDO Debit

allow internet transactions for MasterCard Electronic (MCE) / VISA cards.

BDO Debit card can be used for payment purchase in all merchants with

I have an account on bdo online banking but I can’t still link my debit card. What is wrong with it? Do I have to pay an extra money to serve as fund for the debit card or just the money from my bank account?

  • jk6 said:

I successfully linked my paypal and bdo debit card before. It worked fine and had a smooth and fast online transactions with ebay. But after a month, i got this message when i was gonna pay the item on ebay via paypal… “We were unable to verify this credit card. Please check if the information you entered is correct. Please also make sure your credit card billing address matches your PayPal street address.” I tried couple of times but still i got this error message. I’ve read some threads who’r experiencing the same problem, and i think the problem is on the bank not on paypal. People with BPI, Metrobank, Unionbank can do online transaction via paypal. How come BDO couldnt?
    CONCLUSION: BDO sucks :) ))

  • lutz (author) said:

    Hi jk6,

As Dennis said, BDO has updated their terms of use of their services. I will have to make another post about reconsidering EON card to be attached with Paypal. BDO is a bit much stricter with their rules lately.

So far, I’m still attaching my debit card with my paypal with no hassle. Only that I don’t withdraw money from my debit and just use it to transfer funds from paypal direct to my bank account.

As long as I have enough balance within my Paypal account I can purchase anything without having to withdraw from my debit going to my Paypal account. Of course, it still needs my authorization.

I would guess that BDO lately has bit strict with their services to avoid scammers abusing this opportunity. I hope this shed some light as a follow through with my post.

    Regards

  • lutz (author) said:

Please refer to Dennis’ comment. I guess BDO has updated their TOS.

    Hi!

So just to clarify, I can still verify my account using BDO ATM Debit Card but I can no longer have the usual internet transaction? All I need is to just transfer my money to a local bank account.

    Need help on this asap.

    Thanks!

  • Paul said:

Final na ba talaga ito? Hindi na talaga pwede ang BDO Debit (ATM) card pang-verify sa PayPal? Bad trip naman kakakuha ko lang ng ATM ko within this week after enrolling sa Internet Banking nila hoping I would be able to finally withdraw from my PayPal account.

Kaya pala I keep getting the ‘We were unable to verify this credit card. Please check if the information you entered is correct. Please also make sure your credit card billing address matches your PayPal street address’ error when attempting to verify my debit card. Tinanong ko pa man din yung mga BDO personnel sabi nila pwede daw sa PayPal basta magenroll lang daw ako sa Internet Banking.

Has anyone tried again this lately and contacted BDO if this is still possible?

  • HI said:

Hello. Just a question, how long is the transaction if I’m gonna withdraw my Paypal money? I think I might switch from Unionbank to BDO.

  • lutz (author) said:

    @HI

I would normally take around 3-4 days.

    @ALL

I had no trouble testing out recent/newer application with my own colleagues locally as long as you follow the step-by-step instruction above. Just double check the procedures.

    Thanks!

Please also note that our ATM Debit card cannot be used in any form of

That’s right! You may be able to register the BDO card in Paypal, but you won’t be able to do anything with it. You can’t even “confirm your card” because Paypal is not able to verify the BDO card since BDO is not tied up with Paypal.

but i really have only 10 digit account number, even my parents have only 10 digit accnt nos. Please help me. Thank you!

  • lutz (author) said:

    Hi Boanerges,

Please check your ATM Card number. It should be the valid one, not the 10-digit account number.

    Hi Paul,

I’m still actively using my BDO ATM Debit card to transfer funds from Paypal. Other than that, I don’t use it to fund my Paypal account incase I’m short with resources. I also have my account enrolled with Internet Banking that’s why It’s been a couple of years that I’ve been using it.

    Just clarifying things.

  • lutz (author) said:

    Hi Usetrial,

In your Paypal account, there are two options when attaching a card: Bank Account (ATM Debit) – Online How-Tos are already available and the other one is attaching CreditCard (verification code should be available on your statement of account)

  • lutz (author) said:

    Hi Dave,

If I remember right, they charge somewhere near P200 I think. Please double check with their customer service or email them. They should send you their rates for transfer/withdrawal.

Hello I’m trying connect my BDO Debit card to my paypal account. The problem is some people told me that when I put my billing address, it has to be totally the same with the address to my BDO. • Abbey said:

    Hi!

I second meow’s comment, and I’m also wondering if the names should exactly be the same in both accounts. Thing is, in my BDO account (online) I have my name, middle name, and surname; on my Debit Card, I only have my name, middle initial, and surname. I wonder which one to follow?

  • lutz (author) said:

    Hi NZ,

No need to worry. Prolly by toms your money will be available already. It usually takes 4days for BDO or will extend if there are holidays in between.

    thank you

  • lutz (author) said:

    Hi Pete,

The answer is, it might and it might not. To be safe, please inquire at BDO if they allow their optimum savings account to have an internet banking feature and if it does it might work the same as the regular savings account. I haven’t tested their other accounts yet.

This is the probem that I have since both the card type (MasterCard or Visa) and expiration date are require, during Paypal registration which my debit card does not have . What do you suggest?

Paypal, Ebay.com payment method.Paypal verified with card issued by a bank from non-accepted by paypal country like : Pakistan, Egypt, Bangladesh, Georgia, Cameroon… and other countries.
I attach at paypal account card issued by a bank from non accepted by paypal countries , after that proces paypal account will be VERIFIED, With that account you will be able buy from online stores, send and receive money without pay percentages to various intermediaries, directly to / from your card account.
